ABSTRACT

Localization is a process through which software applications are analyzed, translated and adapted not only in a given language, but according to the respective culture. The localization process contains several steps, such as analysis, review of technical and language culture, preparation of terminology, translation in the respective language, adaptation of interface, localization of graphics, symbols and all other forms, compilation, and the final stage, verification of quality and accuracy. To complete a proper localization, conventions and specific standards are needed, which may not be described in language and technical reference documents. Therefore, this paper will examine crucial standards for localization of different software products, especially in Albanian language. Standards or conventions used for localization should be set according to different needs, which can be easily applied to a wider range of applications. In the paper will be treated different issues, such as formatting, grammar standards, different stylistic criteria, technical problems and solutions.

Keywords: localization, standard, software, terminology, interface.
